This week our Beautiful Blogging post is all about summer color! I figured since Memorial Day is the "unofficial" start of summer, why not update our wardrobe with some fun color! All of the articles that I read on this indicate that designers are really in-tune with the economy and our personal struggles (not financial of course, ha). This means that they are turning to colors that are seen as "optimistic." I am sure you have all been to the mall recently and have seen some of the "optimistic" colors in hues of blues, greens, and corals. Personally, I am in love! Even makeup counters are reflecting this. The amazing array of vibrant colors is fabulous such as bright purple, hot pink, and sunny golds. Love, love, love, love it!
This color palette is from fashionising.com (just click on the image and you can go visit them). You can see that the top row is more vibrant while the bottom is more neutral. The violet and the turquoise are my favorites! How about a pop of those colors to make you feel alive and er, well, optimistic, ha!
For those of us on a budget (and who isn't????), virtually all retailers will be carrying some shades of these colors. As such, you can add these to your existing wardrobe. Think shells, t-shirts, costume jewelry, scarfs, handbags etc... Simply take the neutrals you already own and add some color. How about some white shorts with a turquoise t-shirt? Tan pants with a coral handbag? Navy blue with yellow earrings and/or shoes? I am not a "yellow" person and I NEVER buy yellow clothing. But, I am sure loving the yellows that I have seen in shoes, belts, and handbags. What a great "pop" of color that would add to virtually any outfit! I love neutrals too because it is so easy to add color with accessories for very little money!
I would be remiss if I didn't acknowledge what Memorial Day is all about. We all love to picnic, go to the beach, plant our gardens and shop for our favorite summer colors! But, please take time to remember all of our heroes who have given their lives to protect our country! To all of our service men and women, I say thank you from the bottom of my heart!
Happy Memorial Day!

I love the "dried herb" and the "eucalyptus", they are very calming colors.
Thanks for the great post.
Hi Jacalyn,, what a fun post. I love, love, love these colors. I dont care if times are good or bad, I love COLOR. All of them :) I love yellow, so the aurora was so pretty, but so was the tuscany, tomato puree. But my favorite was the pink champaign.

Beautiful post and as a artist I agree its all about color and feeding your soul, even if it is with a color so pleasent to your eyes it takes you to that special place, special memory and takes the stress away. I have been told that color can lower your stress and therefore lower your blood pressure (I can see that). I will be back to visit all of the colors they look great!

Hi Jacalyn,
I just LOVE the color palettes you showed ... and the NAMES are fantastic! I do not ever remember such a drastic change in the colors as seen this spring and I LOVE it! It makes jewelry creating really fun!

The color palettes are very pretty. I already own a whole lot of sage green, dried herb and eucalyptus. I think I may have to get living dangerously and give it a pop with some of that coral shade! I could do with a pick me up.

Hi Jacalyn...thanks for stopping by! What a fun post today ~ and I am not a yellow person either!
Hey Jac~ I have to agree with your two favorites. They're pretty. I love soft pastels too. Thanks for reminding us all to take time to remember our heroes. They deserve all the recognition and praise! Hugs~ Rita
Hi jacalyn
I really enjoyed reading about the colors. Lots of information and fun to read, too.

I hope you had a wonderful Memorial Day too.
I love the bottom row of colors. I am more of a neutral person, as long as it goes with WHITE.
Love it Jacalyn!! I'll make sure to apply optimistic colors to my Jewelry Designs!
Hugs,
Claudia
Thanks for the color forecast! I love the first 4 on the top and Tuscany. Those colors just are so peaceful. Well, I love them all, just those the most!

Beautiful colors! I like all of them. I Hope you had a great Memorial day!...Christine
Hey J! I ordered some summer/beach clothes this past week and try as I might I just always go back to my neutrals because I wear them over and over especially when they were expensive. But I have been trying to add color with big fat bracelets. Bought a red one and an aqua one and made myself a found seashell necklace with a bit of color in it to wear with a black dress...lol. Hope you are having a great week.xoxo
